Obtaining License Key for EASA

EASA is a licensed software product that requires a valid license key to be installed on your EASA Server before it will become fully functional. When you install EASA, you will be granted a 30-day license automatically, but you will need to request and install a license to run EASA beyond this 30-day period.

Requesting Your License Key

Your request for a license key can be made directly from the EASA system. Please follow the instructions below to request your key.

Note: If the computer you are using is unable to send e-mail from the web browser, then the Email License Request button will not work. However, you can issue a license key request manually, by copying the Server id and Customer Code information into an e-mail message on another computer that is e-mail enabled and sending the message to licenses@easasoftware.com.

  • If you are not already, log on to any valid EASA client computer as any user.
  • Open up a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) and type in the case-sensitive EASA web address as either:
 http://<Domain Name>/easa, or http://<Domain Name>:<Port Number>/easa

where <Domain Name> is the domain name of EASA and <Port Number> is the port number entered during installation. If no domain name was explicitly specified during installation, then it defaults to the computer name of the EASA Server. If no port number was entered during installation, use the first web address shown above. The EASA Introduction page should appear in the browser window.

  • Now select EASA→Log In tab. Enter:
    • User name→admin
    • Password→admin
  • Select EASA→Licensing→Request License
  • On the Request License form that next appears, fill in your Customer Code per the cover letter accompanying your EASA shipment. If you are unsure of the proper input, please contact your designated EASA support office for assistance in determining this input.
  • After filling in the form, click on the Email License Request button to complete your request.

A license key will usually be e-mailed back to you within one working day.

Installing Your License Key

The EASA license key is contained within a file called license.ccl. By default, this file will be sent to you via e-mail. Upon receipt of your license.ccl file, please follow the instructions below to install your key.

  • If it is not done already, log on to any valid EASA client computer as any user.
  • Open up a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) and type in the case-sensitive EASA web address as follows:
 http://<Domain Name>/easa, or http://<Domain Name>:<Port Number>/easa

where <Domain Name> is the domain name of EASA and <Port Number> is the port number entered during installation. If no domain name was explicitly specified during installation, then it defaults to the computer name of the EASA Server. If no port number was entered during installation, use the first web address shown above. The EASA Introduction page should appear in the browser window.

  • Select EASA→Log In and set:
    • User name→admin
    • Password→admin
  • Select EASA→Licensing→Install License.

Note: If the license.ccl file was delivered via e-mail, you will need to save this file attachment to your computer’s hard drive before completing the next step.

  • On the Install License page that appears, select the license.ccl delivered to you in response to your license request by clicking on the Browse button, locating the file on your computer and then clicking on Open.

Note: You are not allowed to rename the EASA license file. It must be named license.ccl.

  • Finally, click Install.

At this point, your license key is installed and you will know that it is working properly when you see the Check License page appear as pictured below. At this point, your EASA installation should be operational including a valid license key. Next, you should complete a second test on your EASA system as described at the Testing EASA Client Applications page.

Checking Your License

In the future, you may want to check on the status of your EASA license usage. To do this, please follow the instructions provided below:

  • If it is not done already, log on to any valid EASA client computer as any user.
  • Open up a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) and connect to the EASA web address.
  • Select EASA→Log In and set:
    • User name→admin
    • Password→admin
  • Next select Check License under the Licensing menu. A table should appear similar to the one shown above. If the numbers in the Total Allowed column of the Check License table are not as you expected, please contact your designated EASA support office to get the matter resolved.
