Six steps to create an EASAP


1. Plan an EASAP

  • Before any work begins, make a detailed plan.
    • Involve the target Users, incorporate their feedback.
    • Identify the minimal functionality, how many inputs and outputs?
    • Determine a procedure for running an underlying software application.
    • Sketch out the user interface (ie. create a 'wire frame')
    • Expect to Author over a number of iterations, try the EASAP out on a User, and then improve it.

2. Automate the underlying software application

Many EASAPs drive batch mode software applications. This requires knowledge of the application's command line arguments, scripting language, macro language to prepare input files and output templates. Manually test these prior to Authoring.

For an Excel EASAP the spreadsheet must be complete and tested for accuracy.


3. Author an EASAP

The easiest way to get started Authoring an EASAP is to complete one of the Author Tutorials.


4. Test an EASAP

  • Test an EASAP before releasing it to a group of Users,
    1. Check proper functioning of the EASAP using reliable inputs
    2. Perform robustness testing by varying input values


5. Document an EASAP

Document an EASAP by creating an HTML Help file.


6. Publish an EASAP

Finally Publish an EASAP to a group of Users.
